On one of my talks with a friend, he has mentioned the word "wife-material". Again, "wife-material"? What does that mean? Well, "wife-material" is word that pertains to characteristics of a woman that would make her an ideal wife. But what charactertics would that be? Like for a man's view, what are the characterics of a woman that make her a "wife-material" one? Of course, everyone may answer it differently. Answers will not be the same coz everyone has different perspectives. I tried ask friends to find their point of views and perhaps, to come up with common denominators.
I tried to get opinions from different people and for those who gave their views about this topic, I thank you.
My classmate in grade school answered, "she's the one who's responsible enough to take care of her own family-husband and kids."
My friend and co-worker commented, "a wife-material is someone who can be trusted."
My bestfriend replied, "she is someone who's always beside me through thick and thin; who always support me and no matter how tough it gets, she'll be the first to comfort me. Wife-material for me is simply someone whom i can call my "wife" without any doubt and pretention because she really is in every aspect of my life. A wife-material for me is someone, whom without a doubt, I can say 'she's my wife'."
One of my churchmates who has been married already answered, "she is a person who is loving, patient, gentle but firm, communicates her deepest emotion and feelings, vulnerable and sensitive to her partners need and wants. Someone who cries with you when your sad and rejoices in your smallest sucess."
My previous co-worker said, "Most filipinos would go for someone presentable, smart, kind, prudent, thrifty and perhaps, enterprising and religious. For me, she's someone who seeks to understand. She is a woman who seeks to be honest, but I think that follows naturally from being understanding."
On the other way around, women, like me, have also our standards on how we define "husband-material" man. I still have to ask my friends about their views about "husband-material man". I promise to update this by tomorrow.
For me, "husband-material" is :
The husband -material person...is a person who fears God and loves God first, and he is a person who is loving, patient, kind, understanding, gentleman, responsible, disciplined, persevering, honest and faithful. He is a person I can be trusted and my bestfriend. I can open up everything to him without hesitation and he accepts me as I am and stays beside me through thick and thin. He is a person I can talk about everything. He listens and he corrects me with just and love to be a better person.
I haven't found this person yet. But these characters are those we learn and acquire as we mature as an individual. So I might say he is existing or he is on the process to be a "husband-material" man.

Angel's Thoughts: My Water Bottle

We all have our priced possessions. I had this bottle that I carry everywhere I go. At first, I just purchased it because I needed a container to fill with water and if in case I’m thirsty, that bottle will be accessible and more convenient for me. It’s just an ordinary stuff that you can see in the stores, nothing special, however, it’s useful and nice to look at.
That bottle has given me much comfort, when I’m eating my food, or simply got thirsty, my water-filled bottle is all-ready to drink. I put it in my refrigerator to keep it cool and from time to time I filled it up with clean water and store it again. I even carry this water bottle even at work. I drink water from it as long as I want.
It had gotten me through some tough times because there are some people who criticized my bottle as to why I love to carry it around so much. I just simply smile and say, “I feel comfortable having my bottle by my side and I think there’s nothing wrong to keep it while it’s useful”. Some people are confused about it. On my part, I couldn’t care less since I like carrying it everywhere I go and drink water from it. I would like to believe that my water-filled bottle gives me life and replenishes my thirst.
Until one day, around january of 2008, I checked on my usual place where I put it… and it was gone. I searched every corner of my house — my two rooms, kitchen, refrigerator, bathroom, dining area… but still, it’s nowhere to be found. I got saddened and cried the whole day. Even though I knew that my bottle was not in my refrigerator, I still checked it every hour to see if it turns up…unfortunately, it didn’t.
There was one time that I went out of the house and look for a replacement of my lost bottle. I checked on the grocery, department and even the hardware stores. I can’t find something that would resemble it, most of the water bottles I saw was either too delicate or not too handy. So, I just went home empty-handed. A friend gave me a new water bottle as a gift but it cant't replace my favorite one.
I wondered where my faveorite water bottle was. Surely, whoever took my precious container has no idea how sad it makes me. From time to time, I dreamt of my favorite bottle but everytime I reached for it, it suddenly perishes. Everytime I remember my precious container, I get too emotional and lonely. My meals are incomplete without it.
I know it’s going to be impossible that my bottle will be returned to me, however, I’m still clinging on to the hope of finding it soon. Nothing can replace it. That’s how I love that container. Regrets came across my mind. If only I took care of it, I woudn't lose it.
One day I woke up, opened the fridge and mto my surprise, I saw my favorite water bottle there. It's full of cold water, and to my thirst I grab it and drink water. At last my water bottle is back, I uttered "thanks". I held on it like I don't want to lose it again. I will love it and care it for it more than I did before.
